Spring at Rights & Democracy has been off to a moving start. In our calls, conversations, and meetings across the state, there is a palpable sense of energy and renewal.
I saw this firsthand when I was at the VT Youth Lobby Rally for the Planet in Montpelier. Over 400 students turned out because they want to see action from those in power that will protect the planet on which these young people will be living the rest of their lives.
Seeing the potential of the next generation – and all who are willing to stand up to power – keeps me motivated in this work. These are the leaders we need, and RAD has been at the forefront of supporting community leaders eager to engage in higher levels of leadership.
Today I’m asking for you to support Rights & Democracy’s mission with a sustaining donation.
We can’t strengthen our democracy through grassroots organizing and transformative policy without your commitment. Are you in?
Vermont State Director
In April we had great movement in Education Justice. While our state experienced setbacks with a surge of vitriolic hate exploding in our communities, we were reaffirmed that the majority of Vermonters are not buying it!
RAD’s endorsed candidates in Essex won their school board races proving that rhetoric and misinformation do not prevail over equity and teaching real history in Vermont schools.
In other exciting news the Police Out of Schools Toolkit that we collaborated with many orgs around the state with is out and ready for communities who are looking to organize around this.
Moving into this summer, we’re excited to see our movement grow. If you’ve been looking for ways to stand up and take action, reach out to Mia!
