A new group promoting progressive politics used Burlington's 14th annual Labor Day celebration to launch their work.
The celebration draws dozens to Battery Park. The group, Rights and Democracy, wants to implement fair labor practices, address climate change, tackle racial injustice. Supporters of Bernie Sanders also organized in the park.
"We see that Vermont has had the third highest rate of economic growth in New England and yet middle and lower income earners in Vermont aren't benefiting from that. All of the benefits of that are going to those at the top," said the group's Michelle Salvador.
Rights and Democracy leaders say they'll lobby lawmakers in Montpelier and try to organize progressive efforts -- united under one organization.
