In Case You
Missed It....

Catalyst Leadership Coordinator Mia Schultz wrote a powerful piece on racial justice in VT in the year since the killing of George Floyd.

RAD rallied with Vermont partners in Burlington, calling on our Senators to #BustTheFilibuster so we can pass critical voting reforms!

We launched a RAD Self-Service Portal where members can manage their contact information, email subscriptions, and membership contributions. Click here to login and get started.

This July marks a quiet shift for Rights & Democracy. With high vaccination rates across both Vermont and New Hampshire and the boundless opportunities for outdoor events presented by summer weather, there is a feeling of awakening. It has been so good to see our members at our first in-person events since the pandemic began.

In New Hampshire, hundreds of members, supporters, and allied organizations showed up at the steps of the State House in an effort to stop the passage of the morally reprehensible state budget. Our Vermont leaders have been out in their communities getting ready for our long-awaited summer engagement kickoff, when we will train volunteers, and begin widespread base building work in our communities.

For this year’s Membership Assembly to be held on November 13th [ahem: Save the Date!], we are planning to be back in person (with a virtual option for those who cannot attend). We will celebrate our sixth year as a grassroots organization working to build a progressive popular movement across our states and our region. Thanks to you, we have come a long way in those six years, so if you haven’t yet become a sustaining member of RAD, please do so today and join us in November.

We are embracing a summer with you, where hugs are not taken for granted and we can chat Zoomlessly – or face-to-face (in old-fashioned parlance). We have weathered a lot of storms over the past year, and are grateful to be working alongside you towards a just recovery as the world begins to reopen.

In solidarity,

James

Good news in the Green Mountains; the Renews coalition has successfully secured numerous coalition members to be appointed to the Vermont Climate Council, the body responsible for implementing the state’s emissions reduction goals laid out in the Global Warming Solutions Act passed in September 2020.

The Climate Council has been granted broad authority to implement programs, setting the stage for Vermont Renews to steer priorities throughout the process, clearing the way for bold policy victories in the coming year.
