Join your neighbors in Essex and Orleans County for a discussion about our hopes for our community and how we can organize to meet the challenges in Vermont and across the country. Rights & Democracy VT (RAD) is looking for people who are ready to roll up their sleeves to build the political revolution on a local, state and national level.
What: Community Action Meeting
When: Wednesday, January 11th 6:00 - 7:30pm
Where: Parker Pie Co., 161 County Rd, West Glover VT
Discuss how we can support struggles locally and across the state and advance a bold vision to turn our communities around, including:
- Raising minimum wage to $15/hour by 2020 and expanding workers’ rights, including guaranteed paid family and medical leave.
- Increasing local participation in and control of charting Vermont’s energy future - a future in which fossil fuel pipelines are banned, clean water is accessible to all, and VT becomes 100% renewable energy state.
- Advancing equity and justice by strengthening our pay equity law, taking action to address racial bias in the justice system, and eliminating for-profit, private prisons.
- Creating a fair and equitable tax policy that strengthens our public goods including accessible high-quality childcare for all Vermont families, tuition-free state colleges for Vermonters, and a universal healthcare system with robust mental health and substance abuse services.
