Position Available: Outreach Canvasser
Help build the political revolution in Vermont!
Rights & Democracy is bringing people together to build healthy communities, and ensure that the values of those communities guide the policies of our government so they advance universal rights and build a true democracy. We work in partnership with community groups, progressive unions, faith communities, as well as organizations fighting for human and civil rights, and the environment.
We have opportunities to get in on the ground floor of building the Rights & Democracy revolution. We're building a canvassing dream team to mobilize support for a number of different issue, such as raising the minimum wage, promoting environmental and social justice, ending racial disparities in our criminal justice system, and protecting and expanding workers' rights for all Vermonters.
Canvassers go into communities across Vermont and build awareness for issues by signing up activists, educating people, showing how people can get involved, and encouraging people to contribute to the organization. Going door-to-door and having face-to-face conversations is one of the best ways to get people involved. This is inspirational work as it helps to show people that theses issues are meaningful and crucial to building the political revolution.
You will be trained in holding effective conversations with people from a diverse range of ages and backgrounds, and you will carry out the crucial first interactions necessary to educate and motivate constituents to join our organization as members, take action to pressure their elected officials, and become more active members of their democracy to hold politicians accountable to the real needs of our communities.
40 hours per week, must be able to work evenings.
Compensation: Canvassers will be paid a base pay of $15/hour and up to $20/hour based on performance
